The philosophy of yoga teaches us if we want to know more about our creator we need only look into the body for answers. Your skin. How incredible it is. For a moment, become aware of the complex nature of what it is and how complex and sensitive it is. The slightest tickle of a feather or the luxurious sensory experience of coconut oil and lavender bath or the slightest breeze upon your face is mesmerizing. Billions of years of evolution make up the human body. How complex nervous system is and, your DNA keeps a record of all your ancestors. Perhaps you can see your great grandfather's nose on your face? All creatures are having a sensory experience here on Earth and the Human experience is the most sophisticated of them all. Yoga philosophy teaches us we have five layers or sheaths. Every aspect of the human system, including the mind, is seen as a body, and yoga is a technology to transform it. The five layers are the physical body, the mind-body, the energy body, the intuitive-intelligence body, and the bliss body. Yoga teaches us to reach into the bliss body and experience non-duality. Union. An all-encompassing feeling of everyone and everything. The most divine expression of Love. Love is what you are. The philosophy of Yoga teaches us to love our body, nurture it, feed it well, expose it to sensory experiences which are pleasing in nature, exercise it well, expand the lung capacity with fresh air and pay attention to its needs and wants. Overstimulation of sound, food, physical activities, and mental strain will start the break the system down and illness then happens. Fall in love with your body all over again. Creator’s love is no further away from us than your own body. By engaging in the body's intuitive intelligence layer and loving all aspects of it, health and happiness are yours to enjoy.

Got kidney stones? Drinking enough water with lemon will most certainly keep you from getting them and if you have them water is a cure. Did you know, on any given day the kidneys filter about 200 quarts of blood to remove salts, water, and waste products that form when the body processes food and liquids? The refuse is waste and it’s medium for transportation - is Water. The human body contains approximately 72% water. Heartburn food cures are Cinnamon, turmeric, water, ginger, and slippery elm tea. How about as we cure disease with our fork and in the meantime save our planet from the doomsday forecast. Leading scientists have a dark forecast for the future of our planet if we humans continue to pillage and rape it as we are doing so now. Our rain forests (our second set of lungs) are being trimmed away for soybean cattle food and palm oil and soon water will become our new ‘gold’. In this book, I am currently reading - named Protest Kitchen fight injustice save the planet and fuel your resistance one meal at a time by Carol J. Adams and Virginia Messina. They write: Factory farm animals live in crowded in small spaces, denied feed, live in unnatural lighting and live in their own waste. Replacing animal food with plants is the most effective dietary change you can make for the health of the planet. Let’s not make our compulsions our freedom. Pay attention to compulsive eating of food you know hurts you and maybe also the planet. True freedom lies not in what we can do without regard for others and the planet or being controlled by compulsions of the mind. True Freedom is being freed of all compulsive behaviors. Freedom equates to conscious living. True Joy is knowing we are contributing Joy to the world. Paying it forward. Let us make 2019 a joyous one for as many as possible. Let us all become a mother to the world. She feeds our body well. Cultures who believe the creator is also within the earth, they tread lightly with a sense of sacredness upon her. The movie Avatar describes this beautifully. I am teaching an introduction to Ayurveda cooking and lifestyle one Sunday every month at the Reno Buddhist Center. The first urban workshop is January 13th from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. We will be preparing super delicious Ayurveda meals, and I will teach simple ways to Meditate and Movement for mind/body health. Please join us. We have room for only 5 more people for our January 13th retreat. Other future tentative dates for more urban retreats are planned for" February 10th, March 10th, May 5th, June 2nd and July 14th. |
